University of Pennsylvania Department of Family Medicine & Community Health
Penn’s School of Medicine is guided by 3 principles: “increased access, integrated knowledge, and local and global engagement.” Since 1997, the Dept. of Family Medicine & Community Health has helped communities through outreach programs, community engagement, and direct care. Since 2001, through research and outreach initiatives by Dr. Giang Nguyen, the department has collaborated with various Asian immigrant organizations, including SEAMAAC to conduct studies on health communication in Asian Americans.
As the managing partner, the University of Pennsylvania Asian Health Initiatives at the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health will coordinate implementation, manage funds, and facilitate communication between collaborators. Penn will ensure that partners adhere to agreed deadlines and that reports are completed. Penn will work with consultants for workshop development and evaluation of outcomes. Penn will also provide research training in such tasks as group facilitation and data management.
