Ten Steps to Better Healthcare: Advanced Directives (Chinese and English with English subtitles)
In Chinese culture it is often regarded as bad luck to plan ahead for one's death. This is one reason why life insurance remains a relatively new product throughout much of the Chinese world. Given the widespread reluctance to talk about one's own death or that of a loved one, it is not surprising that most Chinese-American seniors are unfamiliar with what are called "Advanced Directives." In this last segment of our 10-part series, we explain why "AD" is so important for both patients and their families.
