Language Portal from the Migration Policy Institute
The Migration Policy Institute's National Center on Immigrant Integration Policy is pleased to announce the launch of a health care resources component within our Language Portal. The Portal is a translation and interpretation digital library that includes thousands of contracts, planning reports, legal guidelines, hourly translation and interpretation pay rates, and translated material used by state and local agencies to provide services to limited English proficient (LEP) clients. It is the premier resource for government agency administrators and others looking to create or strengthen language access services, and we hope you'll use it, share it with others, and become part of the community of providers who take part in our Webinars and exchange of information available on the Portal.
We have updated the Portal with over 1,000 resources for health care providers and public health officers who interact and treat limited English proficient patients. New documents include translated medical or disease fact sheets, cultural competency training resources, reports discussing Medicaid payments for medical interpretation, and sample hospital staff translator/interpreter request forms.
In addition to these health-related resources, the Portal now features:
• A new Practitioners' Corner on Tips for Testing and Certifying Multilingual Employees from Jason Reed, LEP Program Manager for the Economic Services Administration in the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services; and
• Updated audio podcasts, summaries, and documents related to our popular and interactive language access webinars.
