Meet Yesenia Perez, Steering Committee, "Domestic Worker Safety and Dignity Project"

1. Being an immigrant is an opportunity and we should take advantage of it. I think we can reach all our goals by giving it our all because being an immigrant isn’t bad and we need to be proud because we know we came here to work. It’s also very difficult to be an immigrant because we have to undergo many hardships and overcome many barriers to come here.

2. I would like if here in the United States people celebrated Children’s Day because we celebrate that day in Mexico on April 30th and people throw parties for children. The day is dedicated solely to them and even in schools teachers perform theater skits for them. Children also receive both small bags full of candy as well as piñatas, and I think the day is special because children are very valuable and important to me.
