Being an immigrant provides new opportunities, challenges, difficulties, which are all different depending on how you are prepared at an individual level. Those who are well established get help from the older immigrants. The new arrivals may have more problems. There are many factors which determine one’s experience as an immigrant.
What is less common in the United States is the extended family which can take care of the entire family, where the large extended family is a community. Many immigrants bring this strong link and obligation to help all those to whom they are related in the United States, even when they live in different places. This offers more guidance to young people by the community.
