Ming Lo, New Routes Leader from Los Angeles
Ming Lo is a producer for Chinese language television LA 18 in Los Angeles, California.
Being an immigrant has mixed blessings in America. On the one hand, it means enjoying diversity, another culture and a broad perspective. On the other hand, I am also an actor, and in that case being an immigrant means being judged – and often being limited – by my race and appearance.
No culture is perfect, but some other cultures are more considerate of others. For example, in some other countries, people walk a little faster across the street if they see that someone is waiting for them to cross, or are more willing to sacrifice a little so that the group can benefit. In the United States, people are more “me” centered, and often consider it a right to behave as they wish, regardless of the impact on the group.
