When Mrs. Lian Zhen Li was first diagnosed with late stage ovarian cancer she said her fears were compounded by the painful reality that she had no way of communicating with her doctor who only spoke English. While Mrs. Li tried to solve the problem by inviting an English speaking friend along for her subsequent visit she soon realized that too would not work.
