Social Inspiration
"In 2003, Hamdan received the Social Work Award for Distinguished Service from the National Association of Social Workers. "Nothing is impossible in this life," she said. "Well-educated and professional women can achieve anything in this life." In 2005, Hamdan founded the Latino Social Workers Organization and consistently mentors high school students and women in post-secondary education. She's involved with the United Way of Dane County Latino Advisory Delegation and created the Latino Youth Advisory Delegation. Hamdan is a hands-on community leader and continues to work in some of Dane County's most challenged neighborhoods. She is the first secretary of LUCha (Latinos United for Change and Advancement), and she developed We Care, which recently was recognized as a model local housing program. She also founded the Housing Caseworkers Group to enhance the coordination of housing resources." (Source: The Capital Times) Full story
