Labor Occupational Health Program, UC Berkeley

The Labor Occupational Health Program (LOHP) is a program of UC Berkeley’s School of Public Health. Its mission is to improve health and safety conditions in the workplace by providing workers with the skills and knowledge to advocate for changes in their jobs. LOHP has a reputation for creating innovative methods for health and safety training, participatory research, and developing materials that are culturally appropriate for underserved constituencies such as immigrants, communities of color, and youth. LOHP is also known for its ability to facilitate and practice an “education for change” approach to training. LOHP emphasizes working in partnerships, and collaborates with unions, community organizations, agencies and researchers to implement a variety of programs addressing health and safety needs.
