Haitian American Public Health Initiative
The Haitian American Public Health Initiative (HAPHI) is a 501(c)(3) and was founded by Haitians in 1989 to provide health, social services, and skill-building information to promote the health and well-being of the Boston Haitian community. Over 90 percent staff and Board are bi-lingual, bi-cultural Haitians. HAPHI’s mission is to promote the health of Boston Haitian-Americans by providing culturally sensitive, factual information about general health, social and cultural issues that affect their lives; cultivating norms that support and encourage healthy behaviors within the community-at-large; and improving access to services and economic opportunities.
